Press Briefing: Book Presentation by INCB and the Russian Federation during the 51st Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND)

VIENNA, 12 March (UN Information Service) -- UNIS Vienna held a press briefing to present a book (compilation of introductions to International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) reports by UNODC, INCB and the Russian Federation) in the Russian language. Alexander Federov, Deputy Chief of the Federal Drug Control Service (Russian Federation), made the opening presentation; other speakers on the podium were Philip Emafo, President, INCB; and Kuniko Ozaki, representing UNODC. Nasra Hassan, UNIS Director, chaired and moderated the press briefing.

In his opening comments, Mr. Federov explained that the compilation included all the introductory chapters of INCB reports since its first publication, in 1992. Furthermore, he highlighted the Russian Federation's drug policy, emphasizing the stringent precursor controls in his country. He also added that he hoped the publication would be useful for drug control officials in Russian-speaking Member States.

The statements were followed by a Q&A session.
