New Permanent Representative of Thailand Presents Credentials
VIENNA, 26 August (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations (Vienna), Nongnuth Phetcharatana, presented her credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Antonio Maria Costa.
Ms. Phetcharatana is also serving as Ambassador to Austria, a post which she assumed this year.
Ms. Phetcharatana has served in many capacities in the course of her career, among them: Director-General, Department of American and South Pacific Affairs (from 2004), Ambassador attached to the Ministry, Office of the Permanent Secretary (from 2003), Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Thai Embassy, Washington D.C. (from 1999), Director, Division I, Department of European Affairs (from 1997), Director, Policy and Planning Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary (from 1996), Director, North America Division, Department of American and South Pacific Affairs (from 1995), Counsellor, Department of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Affairs (from 1992), First Secretary, Thai Embassy, Budapest (from 1989), First Secretary, Commerce and Industry Division, Department of ASEAN Affairs (from 1988), Second Secretary, Commerce and Industry Division, Department of ASEAN Affairs (from 1986), Third Secretary, Secretariat of the Department, Department of ASEAN Affairs (from 1985), Third Secretary, News Division, Department of Information (from 1984) and Attaché, News Division, Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (from 1983)
Ms. Phetcharatana holds a Master's degree in Political Science from Indiana University, United States and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.
She is married.
