NEW PERMANENT OBSERVER OF THE ASIAN-AFRICAN LEGAL CONSULTATIVE ORGANIZATION PRESENTS CREDENTIALS
VIENNA, 6 June (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Observer of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) to the United Nations (Vienna), Mrs. Christine J. Nemoto, presented her credentials today to Franz Baumann, Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Prior to taking up this appointment, Mrs. Christine J. Nemoto served as Director and Deputy Permanent Observer of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization to the United Nations Offices at Vienna and Geneva (2000-2003).
From 1983 to 2000, Mrs. Nemoto worked together with her husband, Mr. Ki Nemoto, who served as Ambassador and Permanent Observer of the Asia-African Legal Consultative Committee to the United Nations Offices at Vienna and Geneva.
From 1976 to 1982, Mrs. Nemoto accompanied her husband, Mr. Nemoto, who served as Deputy Secretary General of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Committee in New Delhi, India. Mrs. Nemoto also stayed with her husband when he held the following diplomatic appointments: from 1972 1975, Ambassador of Japan to Poland; from 1969 to 1972, Ambassador of Japan to the Sudan; and from 1966 to 1969, Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of Japan in Turkey.
Mrs. Nemoto attended the Law Department at the University of Vienna, and from 1960 to 1963, the Law Department of the University of Tokyo.
Born on 7 December 1936 in Vienna, Austria, Mrs. Nemoto is an Austrian by birth. Since 16 May 1966, she is a Japanese national.
