"Idea Box" for Rio+20 Conference
The process of submitting ideas for the Conference is open to Governments, United Nations organizations, and representatives of major groups. Major groups are invited to submit inputs through their organizing partners. Representatives from organizations or coalitions that do not fit neatly in any of the major groups can send in their inputs through the
Rio+20 website
Following the 1 November deadline for suggestions, a compilation text will be prepared that will be the basis for a zero draft for the negotiations. Countries and other stakeholders will begin discussing the compilation document at the second inter-sessional meeting on 15-16 December 2011 in New York.
'Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest' launched in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee/Austria
The Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest is a global competition for young people organized by the International Association for the Advancement of Innovative Approaches to Global Challenges (IAAI) with a wide number of partners and youth networks in the context of United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20 Earth Summit)

Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest encourages youth to express their hopes, concerns and thoughts on future of our earth through the resonance of music as a powerful expression that incites commitment for sustainable development. The contest will collect musical messages from global youth exploring global solutions for sustainable development and the winners will win a trip to Rio de Janeiro to attend the Rio+20 Earth Summit in June 2012 and make the voices of global youth heard through their music.

Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest
Poetry for Peace Contest
On the occasion of the International Day of Peace (21/09) a social media Poetry for Peace contest is being held from 15 September until 14 October to share messages of peace.
The contest centres around participants listening to the testimonies and stories of atomic bomb survivors in Japan, called HIBAKUSHA (hi-ba-coo-sha) and writing in verse to express their feelings about what they have heard. Many atomic bomb survivors have dedicated their lives to peace.

Hands Off my Design Competition (EU)
The
www.handsoffmydesign.com design competition invites submissions of posters and videos (that can be used as guerrilla/viral marketing tools) aimed at illustrating the dangers and negative effects of counterfeits and illegal copies.
There are three cash prizes on offer in this competition organised by OHIM and the European Observatory on Counterfeiting and Piracy, and endorsed by the Cumulus International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media.
You must register by 15 October to take part (free of charge).

The Volvo Adventure Competition (UNEP)
The Volvo Adventure - in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme - is an educational programme that rewards environmental activities and the decision-makers of the future.
To enter, you form a team of 2 to 5 members aged 13 to 16. Perform an environmental project in your local community & submit the project online.

Bob the Bunny's Cartoon Competition
Too young to enter the Volvo Adventure ? Bob the Bunny's competition is aimed at younger adventurers aged between 10 to 12 years old (at the competition opening - July 1st 2011) To enter, you form a team of 1 to 3 members, identify a local environmental issue and create an A4 cartoon strip illustrating the issue and actions that you might take to solve it.

Global art contest for children and youth (UNEP)
The Stockholm Convention celebrated its 10th anniversary in May 2011. On this occasion, the Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention is organising a global art contest for children and youth.
The theme for the competition is "Stockholm at 10: Chemical Challenges, Sustainable Solutions" and what it means to young people around the world.
The contest is open to three possible art media categories: drawing, photography and short videos. There are also three age categories: 5-10 years old; 11-15 years old; and 16-20 years old.

UPU - 2012 International letter-writing competition for young people
The theme is: "Write a letter to an athlete or sports figure you admire to explain what the Olympic Games mean to you".
The Olympic Movement seeks to create a better world through sports, by promoting the universal values of excellence, friendship and respect. With these values in mind, young letter-writers are invited to express their thoughts on what the Olympic Games, which are being organized in 2012, mean to them.

Developed by
UNHCR and designed to teach players about the plight of refugees, the game was originally released in Swedish in 2005. It has been translated into 9 languages, including English.
In Against All Odds, the player takes the role of a refugee, and plays through twelve stages - depicting his persecution and flight from his native country, through to eventual integration into a foreign country as an asylum seeker.
The game is aimed at 12 - 15 year olds, an age where people begin to develop ideas regarding refugees and similar issues.
